Your Contribution
With general oversight, you’ll support the preparation of FEMA Swiftcurrent and HMGP housing applications as part of the Elevate Florida initiative. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Conducting research and drafting detailed funding applications aligned with the program’s objectives.
Reviewing program guidelines to ensure each application meets compliance and eligibility standards.
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather, verify, and validate necessary data such as damage reports, cost assessments, and project details.
Leveraging data analytics to strengthen application content with evidence-based rationale.
Assisting in the development of application narratives, budget documents, and supplementary materials.
Ensuring all submissions adhere to federal and state policies, funding criteria, and submission timelines.
Coordinating with internal teams, clients, and external agencies to obtain information and fine-tune application strategies.
Keeping current with updates to funding programs and emerging best practices in emergency management.
Recommending process improvements to streamline application development and increase success rates.
Performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) to minimize Requests for Information (RFIs) from FEMA and FDEM.
Following safety protocols and site-specific requirements, including managing location data, reports, surveys, and construction documents.
Completing task-specific training and maintaining ethical conduct in alignment with WSP’s Code of Conduct and internal policies.
Taking on additional responsibilities as needed based on project demands.
What You Bring
A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
Strong research and analytical capabilities.
Familiarity with FEMA Housing Mitigation Assistance (HMA) programs and their guidelines.
Ability to perform QA/QC on personal deliverables.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging both technical and general audiences.
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail, time management, and task prioritization in fast-paced environments.
Capable of both independent work and collaborative efforts to meet project goals.
Proficiency in office software and business communication tools.
Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s policies on health, safety, and conduct.
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed by the project.
U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to client requirements. All candidates must pass a background check and fingerprint screening required by FEMA.
