Climate Adaptation Intern Internship

As a Climate Adaptation Intern, you’ll contribute to a wide variety of planning and engineering studies tailored to new and existing clients. Your focus will be on tackling issues such as coastal defense, flood and risk analysis, stormwater and groundwater management, environmental and social impact, cost-benefit evaluations, funding strategies, and grant coordination. You’ll be embedded in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams composed of planners, engineers, scientists, designers, and other experts to develop resilient and sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct data analysis and produce both static and interactive reports that clearly convey findings and insights.

• Work across multiple projects at once, demonstrating strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Research and propose cost-efficient, environmentally friendly adaptation measures.

• Assist in client engagement and project development efforts by contributing to proposal writing and marketing content.

Required Qualifications:

• 0–5 years of relevant experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Engineering, Coastal Sciences, or a related field

• Familiarity with GIS platforms like ESRI or QGIS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Environmental Science, or Public Policy

• Previous experience in coastal restoration, flood resilience planning, or resilience-related grants and infrastructure projects

• Proficiency in one or more of the following:

  • GIS Tools: ArcGIS Pro or other ESRI platforms

  • Data Visualization Tools: PowerBI, Tableau, or Airtable

  • Programming Languages: Python, R, Matlab, Fortran, Bash, or similar
